With 2024 in the rearview and 2025 already well underway, it’s important for us to allow ample time to reflect on last year’s 365 days. For the city of Detroit, last year was filled with excitement and anticipation about what the NFL season would bring. It was also loaded with pride. Michigan (for those Wolverine fans) won the National Championship, and the Lions were the top team in the NFL for most of the regular season. This postseason, however, brought heartbreak, as the Lions were a one-and-done in the playoffs. From all of us here at Two and A Half Virgins, I can assure you, we were down in the depths of disappointment with you. With that said, recalling the beginning of this paragraph, it is essential for us to reflect on 2024.
Lions fans, take a deep breath and feel the pride. I know this season did not at all shape up how you anticipated, but look back at what was accomplished. The #1 seed in the NFC, an incredible feat. Winning the ultra-competitive NFC North, amidst multiple battles with divisional foes in and outside of Detroit. Most importantly, however, being established officially as the cream of the crop in the NFL, and an example for other teams to follow. This is why 2024 was NOT a disappointment. The Lions came too far and accomplished too much for it to be referenced as such. Take pride in this!
I know that as of now, Ben Johnson is gone, Aaron Glenn is likely soon to follow, and the team feels in shambles. It’s not! Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes are still in the cockpit! They built this thing out of far, far worse materials than what’s available to them now. The culture they built is still alive and as strong as ever. Take comfort in that. I believe that next year, national expectations will be lowered, and the Lions will far exceed them. They will be back.
Finally, all of us at The Two and A Half Virgins are so grateful for all of your support. We started this channel in the fall of 2023 with no real goals. Sure, we thought it would be cool if people watched, but really we just wanted to store our conversations and banter as memories, we still do. Then, the following football season, some of you started subscribing to Jojo’s reaction videos, which soon after became the only thing on the channel that got some real attention. We never wanted to be a reaction channel, and hardly wanted it as part of the brand we are trying to build, but you all gave our channel life. We went on to have a fully monetized channel thanks to the foundation YOU gave us. This was very special.
Going forward, our plans for THV will be different but at the same time, will also include more of the same. We plan on doing a lot more in-person activities that allow for creative freedoms, i.e., going to and covering live football games and sporting events, golfing (one of our favorite sports), gaming, etc. With that being said, however, we will continue to cover the sports we love so much; and we will always root on, cheer for, and cover the team of the fanbase that gave us a start. In the future, Chef, Joj, and I humbly ask for your continued support. Come this summertime, the quality, quantity, and actual in-person activities will all increase, and we hope that you stick around, despite the football season entering the rearview. If not, we look forward to seeing you back for the 2025 regular season!
Thank you all!
